White Donuts on a Black Plate

Oil on masonite, 6x6"

I really like the triad of red, black, and white. Something about it really gets your attention (perhaps that's why you see it in so much advertising these days). The other day, my fiancée had a plate of mini powdered donuts and the contrast of the white donuts on the black plate was really striking to me. So when I sat down to paint last night, I made the same arrangement, putting the plate on some red paper.

Three Rainier Cherries

Acrylic on masonite, 6x6", SOLD

These three cherries were about to get thrown out. I rescued them, plopped them into a little white dish, and called it a still life.

Twisty Topped Tomato

Acrylic on unstretched canvas, 9x12"

The fridge can provide many things, today it provided inspiration. That's where I found this tomato with crazy, twisty leaves coming out of it's top. I set it up on my drafting table and went to work. Obviously, this was my first attempt at a painting for my blog. Since I feel satisfied with the result, I feel a bit bolder about this whole daily painting endeavor.
